Event Director Anthony Bastic outlines, “The Australian Garden Show Sydney will set a new standard for horticultural events, attracting the participation of highly respected international and national gardening experts in a series of talks and workshops that will attract both experienced gardeners, landscapers and designers as well as novices, children, and families.” Designed to create an entertaining and educational experience for visitors, the show will feature a grand floral pavilion, retail displays, a potting tent for children and a plant crèche where purchases can be safely stored. ‘Power of the Social Flower’ Exhibition

5 May to 12 May, 2013
As part of the global Fair Trade Fortnight, the exhibition ‘Power of Social Flower’ reveals the ugly truth behind the beautiful flowers we see everyday. The majority of flowers sold in supermarkets and flower shops are imported from developing countries for extremely low prices and under poor working conditions. Fair trade flowers are emerging as a response to such harsh treatment, as the exhibition will demonstrate. The free exhibition is presented by the Melbourne-based Fairtrade and ethical organisation, Moral Fairground. The organisation plays an active role in forming the Victorian chapter of the global fortnight by hosting a series of other events. Check out their website for more information.

Where: Fracture Gallery, Federation Square. Melbourne Vic.
When: 5 May – 12 May, 2013.
