UPLIFT 2012 is a three day festival that marks the start of a new beginning; this series of events centre around changes that will lead us to a more connected way of living as a whole rather than for ourselves.

The festival will bring together some of the world’s most inspirational pioneers, innovative thinkers and artists. Prominent speakers will discuss new social paradigms, environmentalism, sustainability, deep ecology, science, new-economics, indigenous wisdom and empowerment of the people. UPLIFT 2012 coincides with the final days of the 5,125-year cycle of the Mayan calendar on the December solstice of 2012, and focuses on the opportunity for sustained positive change.

Manly Food, Wine and Sustainability Festival

2 & 3 June, 2012

Manly's ever popular Food and Wine Festival is just around the corner and this year its Sustainability Hub will have 16 interactive stalls showcasing the latest innovations in sustainable products, technologies and services. Taking prime position in The Corso, visitors can learn about sustainable practices while enjoying the buzz of the roving entertainment and attractions that surround them! A great opportunity to learn about how to have a sustainable lifestyle, or to promote your sustainable product.

Where: Darley Road intersection at The Corso, Manly, NSW.

The Planting

4-6 May

As a follow up to the last Woodford Folk Festival, Woodfordia park is holding a laid back festival of music, comedy, speakers, workshops and kids entertainment over three days this May. The festival aims to continue the celebration of having a sustainable festival venue by holding planting sessions in honour of their tree sponsors. This year Woodfordia will celebrate the planting of its 100,000th tree since the project began. Other activites include butterfly and birdwatching, yoga and bush tucker and the musical talents of Bonjah, Frank Yamma, Katie Noonan plus many more.

Gulgong Folk Festival

Catch more than 100 musicians at various venues across the historic gold mining town of Gulgong in NSW. Highlights include live performances from Bill Chambers and Anne Kirkpatrick. Peats Ridge Festival

Peats Ridge Sustainable Arts & Music Festival

Set in the idyllic Glenworth Valley just one hour from Sydney, this event is the only Southern Hemisphere founding partner in the UN Music and Environment Initiative. There’s a strong emphasis on eco-living education, where even the environmental impact of the printing and cutlery are considered. This festival, now in its eighth year, will host a much-anticipated New Year’s Eve performance by musician Gotye.

Smart Energy Expo - Newcastle

Hosted by Climate Action Newcastle, the Smart Energy Expo is in its 4th year and has become the premiere event in the region showcasing a wide range of products, services, and activities for us all to combat climate change and transition our communities to a truly renewable energy economy. At the Expo you will find answers and solutions for a lot those projects you’ve been putting off around the home like solar hot water, insulation, smart lighting solutions, composting and worm farming, native plant gardening, as well as renewable energy solutions for your home. Also on hand will be a range of electric bicycles, advice on sustainable building design, and a number of local community groups actively promoting and working for a truly sustainable future for all of us.
